As the collaborative creative sessions take place gathering feedback is extremely important to how the project develops and is finally realised. As well as gathering feedback through conversation during the sessions, informal forms were kindly filled in by the participants. I’ve broken down the separate questions and entered the answers below them.

And of course, all comments entered on this website are very welcome….

Some forms were filled in to represent a group of participants.

DO YOU LKE THE IDEAS SUGGESTED FOR THE FINAL ARTWORKS FOR THE COMMUNITY CENTRE, THAT BEING, TEXT BASED ART TELLING STORIES OF STOTFOLD PRESENTED IN SHAPES OF STEAM AND CLOUDS?   PLEASE GIVE A REASON FOR YOUR ANSWER.

…from the session involving the Salvation Army, Stotfold and W.I., Stotfold:

Yes great idea Stotfold has a great heritage.

Yes a permanent reminder of Stotfold’s history.

Yes. It keeps the spirit of what was originally a village alive. The names, events, organisations have made Stotfold what it is. It has given Stotfold its soul it will keep the town in touch with it’s past and help it understand itself.

…from the Bowls Club, Stotfold:

Yes. Think whole idea is good. It will be different. Good for the village to have something for future generations to see.

….from knit and Knatter

I like the clouds idea and would like to see as much the history of Stotfold as possible integrated into the final work.

Ideas are good except for it being in words.

Think it is a good idea.

I like the clouds but I would also like other patterns. I would like some children’s artwork.

DID YOU ENJOY THE SESSION AND IF SO WHAT SPECIFIC ASPECTS OF THE SESSION DID YOU ENJOY?

…from the session involving the Salvation Army, Stotfold and W.I., Stotfold:

An enjoyable session. Lots of ideas surfaced.

Brain storming down memory lane.

Yes. Discovered more information.

Enjoyed reminiscing.

…form the Bowls Club, Stotfold:

Sheila and I enjoyed it and found it most interesting. I think some of the men found it a bit bewildering! (not proper drawing).

….from knit and Knatter

Yes the discussion.

All of it was very good.

I enjoyed hearing other people’s ideas.

The below are from sessions held with Etonbury Academy:

DID YOU ENJOY THE SESSION AND IF SO WHAT SPECIFIC ASPECTS OF THE SESSION DID YOU ENJOY?

Yes, using the typewriter.

I enjoyed the session as you could experiment with the typewriters.

I really enjoyed these two sessions because I really wanted to use the typewriter and I enjoyed all of it.

Yes I did. I like doing my own stuff more than the set of tasks but I still enjoyed them.

Yes I enjoyed all of the session especially using the typewriters as it enables us to learn in a different way.

I enjoyed the session because it allowed me to experience a whole new type of art.

Yes, especially how to use a typewriter in public art.

I enjoyed creating my own patterns.

Yes I like using the typewriters and having examples to get inspiration from.

I liked learning a new skill.

DID YOU FIND ANY ASPECTS OF THE SESSION CHALLENGING?

Zig zags.

Using the typewriter was hard learning curve.

Trying to do patterns on the typewriter and a little bit on writing when your fingers slip.

It’s a lot harder than it looks, but the challenge is fun.

No, only the first session but once I got to grips with it was fine (except the chilli)

Yes, the angle which we wrote in.

Yes, making drawings with the keys of the typewriter, especially the 3d objects.

Yes the 3d shape part.

I think some were challenging.

PLEASE DESCRIBE IN YOUR OWN WORDS WHY PUBLIC ART IS BENEFICIAL TO THE PUBLIC

Because anyone can do it not just famous artists.

Public art is beneficial to the public as it’s free to everyone.

So life isn’t plain and dull!

Public art is beneficial because it’s accessible to everyone and it is free so people just walk through to see it. Thank you so much for these sessions.

I think it is beneficial to the public because it lets you see them out on the street.

I believe public art is good way to express your feelings.

Because it is more accessible and it is free.

It’s a free and easy to access art through public art.

It is simple if you know what you are doing.

TESTIMONIAL REGARDING THE SESSION BY TOM PEARMAN, BY DENISE GAHAGAN, HEAD OF ARTS, ETONBURY ACADEMY:

Tom worked on an extended Art project that linked the school I work in, Etonbury Academy, to the wider community.

He was punctual, well organised and planned his work with our pupils, making it both interesting and enjoyable.

Resources including supportive audio-visual photos of other artists work and his own. He provided materials for the pupils to use, including antique typewriters that the pupils found interesting to use and they rose to the challenge of preparing work that Tom then gathered, collated and discussed with the pupils to move them forward with their project.

Tom interacted well with the pupils and he explained tasks to individual pupils, being both flexible and co-operative when catering for their needs.

His work was an inspiration for pupils to aspire to and we achieved some good results. I am looking forward to seeing the work displayed in the new village hall in Stotfold.

Yours faithfully,

Denise Gahagan, Head of Art
