These artworks are loosely based upon the famous novel by H.G. Wells, "The Invisible Man".
Well's fictional character is a modern monster of science; a freak grown from his own scientific ambitions. In the novel, the invisible man searches for a cure to his condition.
In Pearman's artworks, an invisible man is shown making a call from his cell phone. Is he calling for help whilst hiding out in the woods or is he merely continuing business as usual, keeping up appearances by wearing a clean suit and tie?
The approach of these works mirrors the techniques used for traditional matte painting found in the realm of film making and old-school / low-tech special effects.
Pearman also makes a direct reference to the famous questionable hoax Yeti footage shot by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin in 1967 by showing his alternative invisible man situated in the woods by a fallen tree.

These artworks are Pearman's "Alternative Tales from the Invisible Man". There are more chapters to follow.
