Laminate refers to a plastic sheet material that is applied to a stiff backing. (FORMICA is a familiar brand name of a company that produces laminates).
Pearman has applied inks to a variety of plastic laminates using the process of silk-screen printing. He often chooses high gloss laminates to provide a contrasting shine to a matte ink shade, or visa versa.
Pearman has previously used this application for public art commissions.
